Sent Forth

On July 11th 2009, Bon Secours Volunteer Ministry celebrated the service of our 2009-2010 volunteers. Fr. Dave McGuigan, SM celebrated our closing liturgy and incorporated volunteer reflections into his homily on being sent forth and speaking the plain truth. After eleven months of full-time service, the volunteers have gained much wisdom from the people they served. This wisdom has helped the volunteers’ uncover the plain truth that their neighbors in southwest Baltimore, who suffer from much economic injustice, are also members of their family. This plain truth about the human family is often hidden by myths about poverty. Being sent forth with this new vision suggests that our volunteers have much of which to speak.
